OpenAI Completes $30 Billion Funding, Valuation Reaches $300 Billion, Led by SoftBank
OpenAI will restart fundraising on July 28, aiming to complete a $40 billion funding goal, with SoftBank leading the $30 billion investment (of which SoftBank will contribute $22.5 billion). After this funding, the valuation will reach $300 billion, making it one of the most highly valued startups. The company also plans to collaborate with SoftBank on a $50 billion interstellar gate AI data center project. In response to disputes over its structure, OpenAI has proposed a new architectural plan: retaining control of the non-profit organization and transferring the for-profit division into a public-benefit company. SoftBank's investment depends on whether the new structure can be implemented by 2025.
